The inaugural HFE Hybrid Fitness Challenge tests the limits of the core components of strength & conditioning.
Athletes will be tested across the four foundational movement patterns: Hinge, Squat, Push, and Pull.
The final test measures the athlete's endurance, resilience, and will.
Deadlift
Athletes will compete in an ascending-weight deadlift event conducted under powerlifting deadlift standards on a trap bar. Once the trap bar weight increases, it cannot be reduced.
Each athlete is allowed (2) two attempts throughout the event. The heaviest successful lift will be used for scoring.
Belts, chalk, and sumo stance are permitted. Wrist straps, figure-8 straps, hooks, and other grip aids are not permitted.
Pull Up
Athletes will attempt max repetitions of pull ups (pronated grip) or chin ups (supinated grip).
One continuous attempt. No regripping or leaving the bar.
The bar must make contact with the throat or upper chest for the rep to count
Full lockout of the elbows is required at the bottom of each rep.
Bench Press
Athletes will perform max repetitions without re-racking the bar.
The bar must touch the torso on each rep.
Full elbow lockout is required for the rep to count.
The athlete’s shoulders and glutes must remain in contact with the bench at all times.
Men’s weight: 185 lbs.
Women’s weight: 95lbs.
The Gauntlet
Hybrid Challenge Finale
The competition concludes with a brutal test of speed, strength, work capacity, and grit.
Athletes will begin with a 100 yard sprint
Immediately transitioning into a 100 yard Farmer's Carry using a trap bar loaded to 135 lbs for men and 95 lbs for women
From there, competitors will take on a 50 yard sled push loaded to 305 lbs. for men and 200 lbs. for women.
Once the sled is completed, athletes will move to a 1 mile bike
They will then face a 2 minute dead hang. Athletes must accumulate the full 2 minutes before advancing to the final station.
The event culminates with a final 100 yard sprint to the finish, where competitors will empty the tank and race for every second.
This event is designed to reward the most complete hybrid athlete; combining speed, strength, endurance, grip, and mental toughness under fatigue.
